Arthroscopy

It is less invasive technique in which a camera is inserted through a small incion into the joint. Small incion leads to faster healing, minor scar and a quick recovery. The most common procedures include: Removal or repair of torn meniscus, Removal of loose body or debris, Trimming of damaged cartillage and Ligament reconstruction, etc.

Joint Replacement

More than 168,000 Total Hip Replacements are performed in USA each year. If medication and assistive devices are not helping then you should consider hip surgery for the damaged joint. Joint replacement can relieve your pain and help you to get back to enjoying normal, eveyday activities. The chance of hip replacement lasting 20 years is about 80%.

If  your knee is severley damaged by arthritis or injury, it may be hard for you to perform simple everyday activities, walking and climbing stairs. You may feel pain even when you are sitting or lying down. In USA, about 267,000 knees are replaced each year. There is also an option for partial knee replacement or a  less invasive procedure.

A total or partial shoulder replacement may be recommended if arthritis or degenerative joint disease makes your shoulder stiff and painful. Shoulder replacement surgery replaces damaged surfaces or a bad fracture with artificial prosthesis.

Synvisc Injection ( Hylan G-F 20)

It is an FDA approved therapy that provides lubrication for your knee joint. It also acts as a "shock absorber" to cushion your knee. It is indicated for the treatment of pain in Osteoarthritis of the knee.In clinical trials it has  significantly improved pain compared to anti-inflamtory medication (NSAID). Three injections are given by the doctor into the joint one week apart. Most patients note great pain relief 8-12 Weeks after starting the treatment. Although adverse reactions are few, a painful acute reaction ( " Pseudosepsis" ) has been reported in 2-8% cases.
